Required Materials & Tools

A full review of the requirements will be provided during program orientation. Students are not required to wear a uniform/scrubs or office attire during the orientation period.
 
Uniforms/scrubs and/or office appropriate attire
 
White sneakers (or as little color as possible) or nursing shoes and/or office appropriate shoes
 
Index cards and individual binder rings
 
Combination lock (no keyed locks)
 
Headset (good quality with USB or straight plug; noise cancelling is required; ear buds without over-the-head design are discouraged, wireless headsets will not work in our lab atmosphere.
 
Stand-alone calculator (not on cell phone)
 
Subject binders, dividers, and tabs, lined paper, English dictionary, pens, pencils, erasers, and other educational supplies at the student’s discretion.
 

Required Technology

With the exception of a good-quality, noise cancelling headset, students are not required to purchase hardware (such as a laptop, smartphone, or tablet) for use in the program. Any software requirements will be reviewed during program orientation and should not be purchased in advance of program orientation.

You are about to begin a very exciting journey where you will discover how to deliver efficient, patient-focused administrative support, work collaboratively within a healthcare team, and maintain a safe, organized, and professional environment. You will build strong communication and documentation skills grounded in ethical practice, while using healthcare technology and critical thinking to support patient care and streamline administrative workflows.
