The Distance Learning Program is for students who live outside of PEI and are seeking pre-requisite requirements for Holland College post-secondary programs. 

Our virtual high school credit program offers students the opportunity to earn or upgrade academic credits using Prince Edward Island curriculum through a flexible online learning environment. Designed for learners seeking to improve their marks, complete prerequisites, or get back on track academically, this program allows students to earn high school credits while benefiting from the guidance and expertise of certified teachers.

  • This Grade 12 asynchronous distance learning English course is designed to equip you with the advanced language arts skills essential for success in postsecondary education. You will delve deeply into:
    • Speaking & Listening : Cultivating effective verbal presentation skills for communication through video assignments.
    • Reading & Viewing : Developing critical analysis skills for a wide range of texts, from literature to visual media.
    • Writing & Representing : Crafting sophisticated written communication, including persuasive essays, creative poetry and prose, and visual representations of ideas.
    • Final Assessment : A comprehensive evaluation of your mastery across all learning outcomes through a proctored exam.

    Expect a dynamic curriculum featuring activities such as video assignments, in-depth rhetorical analysis, and varied assessment methods that challenge you to think critically and express yourself powerfully.

  • Academic Grade 12 Chemistry provides an opportunity for students to develop scientific literacy through the study of thermochemistry; solutions, kinetics, and equilibrium; acids and bases; and electrochemistry (redox reactions). These topics provide the content and skill framework that will be used to engage students with the processes of scientific literacy, (inquiry, problem solving, decision making).

    This course is a post-secondary preparatory course that builds on the foundational learning developed in Academic Grade 11 Chemistry.

  • Math 621 is a Grade 12 Academic Mathematics course designed to prepare students for post-secondary pathways that do not require calculus. Students explore real-world topics such as financial mathematics, probability, logical reasoning, and functions, building practical skills they can apply beyond the classroom. Along the way, they develop confidence in problem-solving, critical thinking, and mathematical communication. This course equips students with the tools they need to make informed decisions and succeed in their future studies and careers.

  • This Grade 12 Biology course provides students with an in-depth exploration of the fundamental principles that govern living systems, with a focus on reproduction, genetics, evolution, and biodiversity. Students investigate cellular reproduction and diverse reproductive strategies across organisms, while building a foundation for understanding human reproduction and development.

    The course examines patterns of heredity and the molecular basis of genetics, including modern applications such as genetic technologies and their societal implications. Students also explore the mechanisms of evolution and the processes that contribute to the diversity of life on Earth.

    In addition, learners analyze the classification and characteristics of biodiversity, as well as the causes, transmission, and prevention of infectious diseases. Through scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and real-world connections, students develop a deeper understanding of biological systems and their relevance to personal and global health.
