Funding & Loans

This page provides an overview of government and external funding opportunities and programs  that may help offset the cost of your program.

Information on Entrance Scholarships and awards can be found in our Student Awards & Scholarships section.

Government Student Loans

Student loans are available from provincial government to qualified students attending programs at Holland College.

Any student loan proceeds received by the college on your behalf will be applied to any balances owing on your account. Refunds are only issued if your account is in a credit balance.

If you exit your program early, and have a credit balance on your account, any portion of that credit that relates to your loan will be sent back to Student Loans. You are only eligible for a refund for whatever portion of tuition and fees you paid personally.

For information about PEI student loans, bursaries, grants and awards, visit PEI Student Financial Services.

You may also be eligible for a student loan or training allowance.

If you require further information of assistance with student loans, contact Student Services or visit the following websites, where you can apply online or download an application:

Skills PEI Funding

SkillsPEI is a division of the Department of Economic Growth, Tourism and Culture, established to manage the delivery of employment and training programming funded by the Canada-Prince Edward Island Labour Market Development Agreements.

To be eligible for Training PEI funding, individuals must meet the following basic criteria:

  • be unemployed and legally authorized to work in Canada (Canadian citizen or permanent resident);
  • have a current claim for Employment Insurance benefits;
  • have a Return to Work Action Plan that identifies (a) lack of marketable skills as an employment barrier and (b) the need for new or additional occupational skills in order to find employment.

Other criteria may also apply.

If you have been approved for Skills PEI funding, your share of tuition and fees is due on the first day of classes each semester.

Please read your agreement with SkillsPEI carefully to determine the amount of tuition and fees that you are personally responsible to pay. If you are having difficulty determining that amount, please contact your local admissions clerk for assistance. If meeting in person, please bring a copy of your agreement with you.

If you have not paid your share of tuition and fees by the applicable due date, you will have a financial hold placed on your account.

If you are late applying to SkillsPEI, and have not received approval/an agreement, you must contact your local admissions clerk to inform them of your application. If you have not done this prior to the payment deadline, you will have a financial hold placed on your account.
