Required Materials & Tools

  • A current Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS) is required before participating in any experiences involving children (do not request before program start)
  • Digital Camera (cell phones are not acceptable for student use for images in Centres)
  • Outdoor clothing for ALL types of weather
  • Various standard school supplies (ex: pens, notebooks, etc.)
  • Various resources required for the creation of play and curriculum materials for use with children and in the classroom


Required Technology

Regular access to the Internet, a computer, a printer, and printing supplies

Your First Day

  • Date: Tuesday, September 8, 2026
  • Time: 9:00 AM
  • Location: Room 111E, Charlottetown Centre, Prince of Wales Campus
  • What should I bring? You are welcome to bring a notepad and pen to the first day. No books or other materials will be necessary.

A Message from the Program


Welcome to the Early Childhood Care and Education program. We are so happy you will be joining us in September!! Your time in the program will be a mix of in-class sessions, hands-on learning, on-site observations and practicum experiences in early learning centres. As this program is focused on creating developmentally appropriate and play-based emergent curriculum for young children, be prepared to take the learning outdoors throughout the year- in all kinds of weather! We are excited to be a part of your journey as a Holland College student as you head towards a rewarding career as an early childhood educator. See you in the fall!
