Job Description

Inshore Rescue Boat (IRB) Program – Canadian Coast Guard

Each summer, the Canadian Coast Guard offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience while making a real difference. Through the Inshore Rescue Boat (IRB) Program, students provide on-water search and rescue services and work closely with local partners to help mariners in need.

Applications for Summer 2027 are now open! The deadline to apply is November 2, 2026.

Qualifications

Who we’re looking for:
We’re seeking students who hold the following certifications:

  • Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED
  • Pleasure Craft Operator Card (or equivalent)
  • Restricted Radio Operator Certificate – Maritime (ROC-M) with VHF DSC endorsement
  • A valid, unrestricted Canadian driver’s licence (Note: graduated licences with restrictions are not accepted)
