David Trainor

David graduated from Holland College’s Electromechanical Technology program in 1990 and then joined Allied Signal Aerospace, which later became Honeywell Engines and Systems. His skills, work ethic, and dedication served him well as he steadily climbed the ranks eventually being named Site Leader, the highest position in the Summerside branch.  After 14 years at the plant in PEI, David moved on to positions with Honeywell in Montreal and Phoenix Arizona before returning to the Island.

With his knowledge of the aerospace industry, David identified a gap in the Prince Edward Island market and in 2008, opened Action Aero in Charlottetown, a company that specializes in overhauling and repairing aircraft engine accessories.  Action Aero’s clients hail from across North America, as well as Australia, Europe, Africa, China, India, and Brazil.

Today, Action Aero employs 37 individuals, many of whom are Holland College graduates, and the company continues to expand. David also plays an active role within the Aerospace Association of PEI, which strives to promote the sector and facilitate development of the workforce.

In 2013, David, along with a group of other Island business owners, stepped up to help keep PEI’s club of Quebec Major Junior Hockey League team on PEI, now known as the Charlottetown Islanders.  David currently serves as Chairman of the Board.

David received a Distinguished Alumni Award in 2016.
