This study package is intended to help prepare the student for the Transport Canada oral exam for Fishing Master Level 4. The exam may cover anything within the exam syllabus and the candidate must be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of the Fishing Master. The exam is of an unlimited duration; however, most oral exams at this level last approximately 60-90 minutes.
It is difficult to provide a study package that will adequately prepare the student for an oral exam because each exam can vary significantly depending on the examiner and their experience, the student’s experience, and how the student answers each question. This package does not cover everything the examiner may ask. You should refer to your own study notes from previous navigation exams to refresh your memory on each topic. The sample exam questions will give you a good idea of what to expect and how to prepare yourself for the oral exam.
