Student Engagement and Instruction Librarian

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Student Engagement and Instruction Librarian plays a key role in advancing student success, information literacy, research support, and community engagement across the College. This position develops and delivers innovative instructional programs, learning resources, outreach initiatives, and library services that foster student learning and academic achievement. Working collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and community partners, the Student Engagement and Instruction Librarian serves as a liaison to assigned academic disciplines, provides expert research support, promotes effective use of library resources, and contributes to the development of responsive library programs and services. The successful candidate is responsible to:

  • Design, develop, and deliver information literacy instruction, learning resources, research guides, and multimedia tutorials that support student learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with faculty and academic departments to provide customized library instruction, research support, and liaison services.
  • Assess the effectiveness of instructional initiatives and contribute to library assessment and continuous improvement activities.
  • Develop and implement outreach, engagement, marketing, and communication initiatives to promote library resources and services.
  • Create and maintain content for the library website, social media platforms, and other communication channels.
  • Serve as liaison to designated academic programs, conducting collection assessments and making acquisition and weeding recommendations.
  • Monitor emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in librarianship, information literacy, and assigned subject areas.
  • Provide research assistance, circulation services, and exemplary customer service to students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Participate in library committees, projects, events, and cross-functional initiatives while supporting College and library policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS/MLS) from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent.
  • Minimum two (2) years of related experience, preferably in an academic library.
  • Experience in library instruction, information literacy, and research support.
  • Experience developing online learning objects, instructional materials, and multimedia resources.
  • Experience with outreach, communications, social media, and circulation services.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional technologies, and information literacy practices.
  • Proficiency with learning object development tools and digital communication platforms.
  • Strong research, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively while building effective relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
  • Demonstrated commitment to service excellence, innovation, and student success.
  • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and/or Certificate in Adult Education is considered an asset.

Salary:

$34.85 to $43.62
