Social Media Officer

Continuing full-time position commencing ASAP

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Social Media Officer will work closely with the Digital Marketing Strategist to manage the development and delivery of marketing messages, campaigns, and social interactions across the College's social media platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Monitor, analyze, and evaluate Holland College's social media presence.
  • Moderate user-generated content across the College's social media channels.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities and implement best practices that enhance the promotion of Holland College programs, services, and events.
  • Create, edit, and publish engaging and compelling content that drives audience engagement across social media platforms.
  • Develop short-form video content and capture photos for use across digital and social media channels.
  • Build community awareness and engagement through creative social media campaigns and initiatives that encourage user-generated content.
  • Monitor social media trends, identify emerging issues and opportunities, and share insights with appropriate internal stakeholders.
  • Attend major College events, including Orientation, Open House, Graduation, and other key events, to provide live social media coverage.
  • Collaborate with College departments and external partners to develop coordinated marketing campaigns and promotional content.
  • Assist departments in establishing and optimizing their social media presence while maintaining consistent College branding.
  • Represent the College on camera and behind the scenes in the creation of digital and social media content.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education in English, Journalism, Photography/Videography, Tourism, Performing Arts, Marketing, Communications. Proven experience in social media is preferred.
  • Experience in creating social media content, including photography and videography.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of current and emerging social media platforms and trends.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interview, engage, and build rapport with students, faculty, staff, and a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of Holland College programs and services would be considered an asset.

Clerk III as per the Memorandum of Agreement between Holland College and the PEI Union of Public Sector Employees – Administrative and Support.

Salary:

$26.40 - $28.42 per hour (37.5 hrs/wk)
