Manager - Library Services

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Manager of Library Services to lead the delivery and continuous improvement of library programs and services. Reporting to senior leadership, this role is responsible for overseeing operations, supporting staff, and ensuring high-quality services that enhance student learning and success.  The Manager of Library Services will be responsible to: 
 
  • Provide strategic leadership for Library Services, including the integration of emerging educational technologies to support teaching, learning, and information access

  • Develop and implement short- and long-term plans aligned with institutional strategic and operational priorities

  • Oversee the delivery and quality assurance of library services across a multi-campus environment, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and excellence

  • Lead the development and management of library systems, digital resources, and information architecture, ensuring alignment with academic programs and institutional systems

  • Negotiate and manage contracts, licenses, and vendor relationships for databases and digital resources

  • Ensure compliance with copyright legislation, licensing agreements, and institutional policies; lead the College’s copyright program, including education, guidance, and policy development

  • Supervise and support librarians and library staff, including recruitment, performance management, workload planning, and professional development

  • Establish team priorities, coordinate service delivery, and foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment

  • Collaborate with faculty, learning managers, and student services to support curriculum delivery, information literacy instruction, and student success initiatives

  • Identify and address barriers to student success, ensuring inclusive and accessible library services, spaces, and resources

  • Monitor and evaluate library services through data analysis, reporting, and user feedback; implement continuous improvements and best practices

  • Promote library services and resources through outreach, partnerships, and engagement with internal and external stakeholders

  • Manage library operations, including service points, facilities, staffing schedules, and health and safety compliance

  • Develop and oversee budgets, financial forecasts, and expenditures to ensure effective resource allocation

   

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters of Library Science (MLS) degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited school is required
  • Significant experience in academic library services preferably within a post-secondary environment
  • Thorough knowledge of current trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in academic librarianship and information services
  • Strong understanding of library systems, digital resource management, information architecture, and user access technologies
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to use data to assess services and drive continuous improvement
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to build effective relationships with faculty, students, staff, vendors, and external partners
  • Knowledge of copyright legislation, licensing practices, privacy requirements, and information governance principles
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multi-campus environment

$46.56 to $57.16 per hour; 37.5 hrs/wk
