Facilities Administrator

Continuing full-time position commencing September 14, 2026

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Holland College is seeking a Facilities Administrator to oversee the day-to-day maintenance and operation of the Tourism & Culinary Centre. Reporting to the Director of Facilities Management, the successful candidate will ensure the facility is safe, efficient, and well-maintained while supporting academic programming.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Supervising and coordinating the day-to-day activities of maintenance, custodial, and kitchen cleaning staff.
  • Recruiting, onboarding, training, scheduling, and supporting employees within the assigned facility.
  • Coordinating maintenance, custodial, and kitchen cleaning activities to support instructional programming and special events.
  • Monitoring maintenance projects, preparing project status updates, and recommending repairs and facility improvements.
  • Assisting with preventative maintenance, facility improvements, and equipment replacements.
  • Coordinating and overseeing contracted maintenance and renovation projects.
  • Monitoring maintenance performance, service contracts, budgets, and operational efficiency.
  • Inspecting buildings, grounds, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and commercial kitchen equipment to identify maintenance needs and recommend corrective action.
  • Responding to facility emergencies and assisting with maintenance and repair activities as required.
  • Supporting compliance with applicable health and safety legislation, food safety and sanitation requirements, College policies, and other regulatory standards.
  • Working collaboratively with academic departments, faculty, staff, contractors, and external stakeholders.
  • Performing other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A college diploma or trade credential in a discipline related to building maintenance. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, or a related field, including at least one year of supervisory experience.
  • Sound working knowledge of mechanical and electrical building systems.
  • Good working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements and best practices.
  • Experience coordinating maintenance projects, preventative maintenance activities, and contracted services.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
