Second-year Sport and Recreation students will transform the lobby of the Florence Simmons Performance Hall into a scare-filled haunted theatre with clowns, graveyards, and eerie piano music.
The Haunted Theatre will open at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 28, for an hour of frights and terrors the students hope will haunt attendees in their nightmares.
Second-year student Brayden Linthorne says organizing an immersive Halloween experience put the students' event-planning skills to the test.
“This event has helped us overcome some of the biggest challenges that most organizers face. Time management, inevitable setbacks, delays, and teamwork,” Brayden commented. “The biggest challenge has been making sure that we one-up the haunted theatre event that was hosted by the second-year students last year.”
“This year our design team has more people, meaning more input for themes, props, and ambience. We’re excited to have someone playing the piano to help create a horror ambience while attendees walk through the event,” Grace Higdon, chair of the student design committee, said.
With all the planning and prop-building complete, students are eager to see who’s brave enough to step inside. The Haunted Theatre takes place on Wednesday, October 28th at noon in the Florence Simmons Performance Hall.
