Job Description

• Participate in watershed stream restoration activities, such as: tree planting in the riparian area, brush mat construction on eroding streambanks, clearing blockages in-stream for fish passage, and other special projects as needed.
• Participate in watershed monitoring programs, including: water quality monitoring, estuary water quality surveys, nesting box monitoring, and sediment erosion surveys.
• Document day-to-day activities through field notes, GPS, and photography.
• Maintain the lawn, garden and trails at Rackham’s Community Pond.
• Participate in local community and educational events.
• Assess/maintain tools and equipment necessary for carrying out field work.
• Complete a field crew report and display poster at the end of the season.
• Assist staff with other watershed-related tasks as necessary.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a post-secondary program with an environmental focus; and returning to full-time post-secondary studies at the end of summer placement.
• Prior watershed work and/or volunteer experience is considered an asset.
• Ability to work efficiently and as part of a team.
• Well organized, self-disciplined and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Other

Mileage when using your own vehicle for work will be compensated.
