Having access to a comprehensive health and dental plan is a great benefit of becoming a full-time student at Holland College. Your student health plan is included in your tuition/fee payments. But what if you already have health and dental coverage? Maybe you’re covered by a parent or partner’s plan, or you have a plan through your employer. In that case, you have two options:
OR
To do that, you will need to provide proof of your alternative coverage and complete the opt-out process.
To opt out of “Extended Health and Dental” you MUST provide the policy number and name of the insurance company that covers you (this can be found on your benefit card provided by your private provider). To be accepted as an equivalent private policy your plan needs to have coverage for things such as prescriptions, vision care, eyewear, dental visits, dental cleanings and physiotherapy.
*Applicable to International students ONLY: To opt out of the "Medical (International)" a PEI Health Card is required. If you do not have one and want to see if you are eligible, visit https://www.princeedwardisland.ca/en/service/apply-for-PEI-health-card-new-residents
The opt out period is from Monday Aug 11th, 2025 - Friday, Sept. 26th, 2025 for all September start Programs. Please ensure you opt out during this time, as late opt-outs will NOT be accepted.
You must visit studentbenefits.ca to complete the opt-out form – you will be required to provide your student ID# (located on your HollPass).
