Women’s volleyball player Morgan White and men’s basketball player Aaron Simmons have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending November 3, 2024.

White, a fourth-year left-side from Charlottetown, P.E.I., helped the Hurricanes put in strong efforts out of two games this past weekend, which included a nail-biting fifth-set win against STU at the McMillan Centre on Saturday. The team captain led the way with a total of 26 kills, 28 digs, and 12 rebounds over the weekend and utilized her leadership and experience to keep her teammates going through stressful matches.

White and the Hurricanes are now 3-1 and will look to get back on the winning track this Saturday, Nov. 9 with a trip to Truro, N.S. to take on the winless Dalhousie Rams.

Simmons, a second-year guard from Nassau, Bahamas, contributed strongly to a valiant Hurricanes effort against the defending ACAA champions, the MSVU Mystics, at the McMillan Centre on Friday. While Holland fell short 104-92, Simmons stepped up to carry the fort with a key teammate absent from the court, leading his squad with 28 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

Simmons and the Hurricanes are now 1-1 and will entertain fans one more time at the McMillan Centre in 2024 with a match against the 2-1 UNBSJ Seawolves this Sunday, Nov. 10.
