AOTW | Jenna O’Neill & Zachary Dawkins Named Hurricanes Athletes of the Week

Women’s volleyball player Jenna O’Neill and men’s basketball player Zachary Dawkins have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending Nov. 2, 2025.

O’Neill, a fifth-year left-side from Cornwall, P.E.I., had strong performances across two women’s volleyball Hurricanes games this past weekend. Notably, she led her team to their first victory of the season in straight sets on the road against the UKC Blue Devils on Sunday, Nov. 2, in Halifax, N.S.

Across both games, O’Neill scored 22 kills and only had five hitting errors, with a .350 hitting percentage. She also added four aces, one block, and 17 digs, and led the way in passing with a 1.98/3 rating.

O’Neill and the women’s volleyball Hurricanes are back on the court next weekend, both on the road and at home. They will visit the Crandall Chargers on Saturday, Nov. 8, in Moncton, N.B., and return home to host the Mount Allison Mounties on Sunday, Nov. 9.

Dawkins, a fourth-year guard from Edmonton, Alberta, helped the men’s basketball team bounce back from a nail-biting season-opening loss against Crandall on Saturday, Nov. 1, in Moncton, N.B., by defeating Mount Allison in another tight match on Sunday, Nov. 2, in Sackville, N.B.

Dawkins played a total of 65 minutes on the court over the weekend and logged 43 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and two steals. He also went 14-for-35 in field goal attempts, 4-for-10 in three-point attempts, and 11-for-12 in free-throw attempts.

Dawkins and the men’s basketball Hurricanes look to build a winning streak next Saturday, Nov. 8, when they head to Halifax, N.S., to do battle with the MSVU Mystics.
