The Holland Hurricanes will welcome the top teams from the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball Association (ACBA) to Charlottetown this weekend to conclude the 2021 season. The top four teams from the regular season have qualified for the championship tournament.
The ‘Canes, the number one seed, will be joined by the University of New Brunswick Reds (second seed); both teams finished the regular season at 12-4 with the Hurricanes winning the tiebreaker. Completing the tournament field is the Acadia University Axemen (9-7, third seed) and St. Francis Xavier University (St. FX) X-Men (6-10, fourth seed).
The championship uses a round-robin, double-elimination format, with all games being played at the Memorial Field at Victoria Park in Charlottetown. Admission is free for all spectators with 50/50 and canteen services on-site.
The tournament begins on Friday, October 15 when the Reds take on the Axemen at 4pm, followed by the opening ceremonies at 6:45pm. Game two of the championship will then take place at 7:30pm featuring the Hurricanes and X-Men.
The round-robin continues on Saturday with Holland College taking on UNB at 10am, the Axemen challenging the X-Men at 1pm, the Reds facing St. FX at 4:30pm and the Hurricanes hosting the Axemen at 7:30pm.
The ACBA Championship game is scheduled for Sunday, October 17 at 11am, however, if a tiebreaker game is needed, the tiebreaker game will be played in this time slot, with the championship game being pushed to 2pm.
