Women’s volleyball player, Brittany States, and men’s basketball player, Jace Colley, have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending November 4.
States, a third-year middle, led the ‘Canes attack during a weekend where they split matches with the MSVU Mystics and Université de Sainte-Anne Dragons.
On Saturday, in a four-set loss to the Mystics, States recorded seven kills, one assist, two aces, one dig, and one block.
On Sunday, in a straight-sets win over the Dragons, States recorded nine kills, three aces, and seven digs.
States is from Bathurst, NB and is studying in the Sport & Leisure Management program.
The women’s volleyball Hurricanes sit at 3-1 on the season and return to action this Saturday when they travel to Saint John, NB to take on the UNBSJ Seawolves. The ‘Canes will play at home again on Saturday, November 17 when they host the Dal AC Rams at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement.
Colley, a second year forward, led the ‘Canes to a 107-72 win over the UNBSJ Seawolves in Saint John, NB on Sunday.
In Sunday’s victory, Colley had 20 points, four rebounds, two assists, and one block.
Colley, who has had a terrific start to the season, is from East Preston, NS and studies in the Business Administration program.
The men’s basketball Hurricanes are off to a 2-0 start to the regular season and will be back in action on November 10 and 11 to take on the Crandall Chargers and STU Tommies in New Brunswick. Their next home game takes place on Saturday, November 17 when they host the Dal AC Rams at the Holland college Centre for Community Engagement.
