Officer Safety / Use of Force Instructor - Recertification

Description
This is an advanced, five (5) day instructor level course, awarding participants recertification in all APA control tactics such as: tactical handcuffing, arm levers & takedowns, pressure points, ground control, personal weapons and Oleoresin Capsicum to name but a few. Officers will also receive education in scenario-based training, feedback, and faciliation. Participants should bring all needed equipment including, vests, hand restraints, batons, gym clothes, sneakers, and will be required to meet the current standards of the APA Use of Force course which includes practical control tactics, evaluations, the APA Use of Force written exam and the National Use of Force Framework exam (NUFF).

Additional Information

Prerequisites:

  • Must be an active member in good standing with approval from training manager or equivalent from a recognized federal or provincial law enforcement department or organization, the Canadian Armed Forces and or a provincially approved organization
  • Successfully completed and current in Use of Force, Police Service Act, including agency policies
  • Must have successfully completed the APA Use of Force course, IMIM or the National Use of Force Model training (NUFF) at an accredited and recognized training facility
  • Must be a current Use of Force instructor who has successfully completed the Atlantic Police Academy's Officer Safety Use of Force Instructor Course
