Program Assistant - Outreach (LINC Program)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Holland College is seeking a Program Assistant for the Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program.  The successful candidate will report to the Manager of Community Education and will perform the following duties:  

  • Work with and support students to complete forms, schedule appointments, find childcare, and connect with local service providers and programs, including IRSA (Immigrant & Refugee Services Association) PEI.
  • Advocate for students where low levels of literacy exist.
  • Assign chrome books, iPads and laptops to students, while tracking and maintaining inventory of these items.
  • Provide basic technology assistance to students such as setting up email accounts, connecting to google classroom, zoom tutorials, and how to navigate technological devices.
  • Plan biweekly New Student Orientation (NSO) for students across multiple locations. NSO includes campus tours, introduction to PBLA (Portfolio-Based Language Assessment), registration paperwork, Holl Pass photos, and booking interpreters when necessary.
  • Assist with other duties related to the successful delivery of the LINC program.
  • Maintain data collection for LINC program.
  • Work with teachers and students to improve and monitor attendance.
  • Develop, update, maintain, and archives program class lists.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education in office administration, business or a combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Strong communication and computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel & OneDrive.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong presentation skills are considered an asset.
  • Experience working or training in a cross-cultural environment or the ability to speak an additional language is an asset.

$25.10 to $28.35; 37.5 hours per week
