Clinical Lead

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Holland College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Lead to support and elevate the quality of clinical education across our Health Studies programs. This is a leadership opportunity for a healthcare professional with a passion for teaching, mentoring, and driving student success in clinical and work-integrated learning environments.  Duties will include:

  • Coordinate and oversee clinical and work-integrated learning (WIL) placements in collaboration with the Program Manager.
  • Assign students to appropriate clinical sites, ensuring equitable access and thorough orientation.
  • Liaise with external partners (HPEI, LTC facilities, private providers) to confirm site readiness and maintain collaborative relationships.
  • Ensure student compliance with all pre-clinical requirements (e.g., immunizations, CPR/BLS, WHMIS, CRC, N95 fit testing).
  • Evaluate site and student performance to support continuous quality improvement.
  • Provide leadership to Clinical Supervisors, Coordinators, and Preceptors to ensure consistent, high-quality clinical instruction.
  • Recruit, train, and evaluate clinical educators across programs.
  • Offer mentorship and coaching to support instructional excellence and student engagement.
  • Coordinate professional development for clinical educators in line with regulatory and institutional standards.
  • Collaborate with Learning Managers on student progress, remediation, and academic alerts.
  • Support individualized learning plans and advise students on clinical progression and accommodations.
  • Participate in student recruitment and outreach activities to promote the clinical experience.
  • Contribute to program and curriculum development related to clinical practice.
  • Support accreditation and quality assurance processes.
  • Monitor expenditures and assist in budget alignment.
  • Represent the department on institutional committees and external advisory groups.
  • Oversee simulation lab operations and advise on simulation-based learning strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related health discipline combined with a minimum of five years recent experience in a health-related field, including at least two years in a management or leadership role (required)
  • Current licensure in good standing with a regulatory body (e.g., CRNMPEI) (required)
  • Certificate or coursework in Adult Education (preferred)
  • Experience in clinical supervision or managing Clinical Supervisors (asset)
  • Familiarity with clinical education delivery models and simulation-based education
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or equivalent tools
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities
  • Demonstrated financial and budget management skills
  • Current certifications: First Aid/CPR and/or BLS, WHMIS, TLR
