DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Holland College is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as Executive Director, Programs, Curriculum & Instructional Development. This senior leadership role provides strategic and operational oversight for the majority of the College’s academic programming and plays a critical role in advancing excellence in teaching, learning, and program delivery across the institution.

Reporting to the Vice President, Academic & Applied Research, the Executive Director provides leadership across a broad portfolio of academic areas, including Applied Sciences and Engineering Technology; Computer Studies and Metal Trades; Arts, Media, and Community Studies; Health Studies; Industrial Technology and Trades; Business Studies; Sport & Recreation and Kinesiology; SOPA; and Culinary & Pastry Arts. The role also oversees key institutional functions such as Curriculum Services, the Learning Management System (LMS), the Business Analytics Centre, Customized Training, and Adult Education.  As Executive Director, Programs, Curriculum & Instructional Development you will also be responsible for:

  • Fostering a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement in programming, while ensuring alignment with College and external regulatory standards.
  • Providing leadership and oversight for instructional programs and associated faculty, staff, and operations, ensuring high-quality delivery and compliance with College, Board, and ISO standards.
  • Leading program review and continuous improvement processes, and supporting the development of new programs and revisions.
  • Interpreting and applying institutional policies, including matters related to academic appeals and student conduct.
  • Collaborating with senior leadership and program teams to identify and implement new programming opportunities, while building strong partnerships with industry, community, government, and post-secondary institutions.
  • Serving on senior committees and representing the College on programming, academic, and student matters.
  • Leading faculty and staff recruitment, supervision, and professional development, and overseeing budget planning, monitoring, and recommendations related to financial and capital initiatives.
  • Contributing to institutional projects and initiatives, acting as employer representative in collective bargaining, and representing the College at internal and external events.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate degree in a related discipline, coupled with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a senior leadership role. Candidates with significant related or equivalent experience who are committed to pursuing a graduate degree may be considered.
  • Ability to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate programs that meet the needs of business and industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, interpret, and apply College, government, agency, and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Proven ability to make effective discretionary decisions in a high-pressure, high-volume environment with changing and occasionally competing priorities.
  • Strong ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and collaborate effectively with students, administrators, staff, faculty, other post-secondary institutions, external agencies, and the general public.
  • Experience in budget development, fiscal management, and project management.
  • Excellent analytical and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience with face-to-face classroom instruction, instructional design techniques, instructional and evaluation methodologies, as well as online and alternative delivery methods utilizing innovative and emerging technologies.
