This course is intended to help you prepare for the SCS5 Transport Canada exam. The SCS5 exam is a three-hour exam and consists of multiple-choice questions, essay style questions, and practical calculations based on a vessel’s stability data booklet. This course requires prior knowledge of math concepts such as order of operations, algebra and trigonometry.
During your exam, you will be provided with a laptop that contains all of the open book publications in PDFs. It is important that you familiarize yourself with these publications so that you know where to find information during the exam. There may be questions that pertain to information that is not found within the publications.
This is a Masters-level exam and there is a higher level of expectation that you should show depth of knowledge in your answers; therefore, your answers should be detailed, well-written and concise, and should always reference the regulations. We recommend that you spend a minimum of five weeks preparing for this exam.
