The School of Performing Arts (SoPA) gives you the opportunity to develop your artistic skills, share your passion for music, theatre, and dance; explore career options in the performing arts; and to gain an understanding of the business side of the performance industry.

Degree Pathways

All three of our two year programs, Dance Performance, Theatre Performance, and Music Performance, have degree pathways with University of Limerick, York University, UNB - Saint John, and Dalhousie University. Dance Performance and Music Performance also offer degree pathways to further study at Berklee College of Music. Music Performance has other degree pathways with Mount Allison University, Acadia University, and Saint Francis Xavier University. Find out more about degree pathways here

About Our Partner

The School of Performing Arts combines the significant strengths and national reputations of two well-established institutions, Holland College and Confederation Centre of the Arts. Confederation Centre of the Arts was founded in 1964 as Canada’s national memorial to the Fathers of Confederation, who gathered at Province House in Charlottetown in 1864 to discuss the creation of Canada. Dedicated to showcasing the best in Canadian visual and performing arts, this award-winning national arts centre is home to the internationally renowned Charlottetown Festival, one of the country’s most well-known theatre festivals.

Dance Performance

Prepare for a career in the Performing Arts in the 2-year Dance Performance program. Develop technical and artistic skills in ballet, contemporary, jazz and tap, and explore your creative potential.

Music Performance

Study Music Performance at Holland College and learn how to interpret, improvise, and perform many contemporary music styles. We use curriculum approved by Berklee College of Music in this two-year program. Develop your performance style on stage in the Florence Simmons Performance Hall & the SoPA Garage. Our program is a partnership with Confederation Centre of The Arts.

Performing Arts Foundation

The one-year Performing Arts Foundation program will help you discover your career options in the spotlight and behind the scenes. Learn to dance, sing, act and Improvise, and explore the technical side of theatre, including stage management, prop construction, and makeup.

Theatre Performance

In this two-year course, you will gain the acting, voice, and dance skills required for interdisciplinary performers, as well as a comprehensive understanding of associated careers in the performing arts. Develop your own artistic voice through courses in creativity and improvisation, while also learning business and communication skills related to the performance industry.
