In fact, all of our APA cadets complete on-the-job training during the program where you can put your training into practice before you graduate. Train at the APA and experience an immersive program in specialized facilities that prepare you for the realities of your career. You’ll learn from instructors who are experienced public safety professionals. They understand the critical nature of your role as an essential worker and first responder - and the demands that come with the job. You’ll also have access to our campus student support programs and mental health training to ensure that you learn how to look after yourself while you’re looking out for others.
This 24-week program will provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to work in provincial and federal correctional facilities. You will learn how to monitor, supervise and interact with incarcerated offenders and prepare them to become law-abiding citizens after serving their sentences; and you will learn the skills you need to ensure the safety and well-being of inmates, yourself and your colleagues.
Police Science (Cadet)Study Police Science at The Atlantic Police Academy. Acquire the academic and tactical skills required to work as a Police Officer in Canada. Real-life situations and simulations prepare you for a career in law enforcement. Learn use of force & control skills, develop criminal investigation techniques, and receive communications and mental health training.
Professional FirefighterIn the Professional Firefighter program, you will develop the fundamental firefighting skills needed to keep yourself, your colleagues, and the public safe in critical situations. Learn about fire behaviour, motor vehicle extraction, medical first response, and communication in comprehensive training simulations.
