CIC chef instructor named Chef of the Year

Chef Hans Anderegg, an instructor at Holland College’s Culinary Institute of Canada, was named Atlantic Chef of the Year recently at the Atlantic Chefs’ Conference in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and is now in the running for the even more prestigious title of Canadian Chef of the Year.

The Atlantic Chef of the Year award recipient is selected from nominees from each of the Atlantic Provinces at the Canadian Culinary Federation’s regional annual general meeting by branch presidents.

Chef Allan Williams, Branch President of the PEI Association of Chef and Cooks and a research development chef at Holland College’s food product development lab, Canada’s Smartest Kitchen, said that Chef Hans is a most worthy recipient of the award.

“Chef Hans is well respected both within the industry, and by his students. I will be attending the national conference in June, and I look forward to speaking on behalf of his nomination for Canadian Chef of the Year,” he said.

Chef Anderegg said he was thrilled to receive the award.

"It is an honor to be selected and voted as the Atlantic Chef of the Year,” he said. And even more special being the first from Prince Edward Island.”
