Learning Manager - Computer Networking Technology

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Program Manager of Applied Sciences and Engineering Technology, Computer Studies and Metal Trades, the successful applicant will create a positive teaching and learning environment and provide effective delivery of the Computer Networking Technology (CNET) program (course descriptions) can be found on the Holland College website).   The ideal candidate will:

  • Assist learners in the development of required curriculum outcomes through such activities as individual and group instruction, self-directed learning, and performance assessments.
  • Deliver excellence in learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement as well as effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success.
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Promote student success by showing flexibility in style and work schedule as well as exhibiting a passion for teaching students and engaging students in the learning process.
  • Develop, review and update learning materials, using an online based learning management system (SAM).
  • Liaising with industry to promote student learning and program relevancy.
  • Comply with OH&S regulations.
  • Counsel learners regarding occupational goals.
  • Participate in program development and planning activities.
  • Perform other learning manager related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-Secondary education in IT (Diploma or Degree) with a minimum of three years of recent verifiable professional experience in enterprise networking, systems administration, or cybersecurity.
  • Candidates with equivalent professional experience holding at least one recognized industry certification (e.g., CCNA, Network+, or Security+) will be considered.
  • Demonstrated hands-on proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting LAN/WAN infrastructure using enterprise-grade equipment (Cisco, Fortinet, Aruba, or equivalent).
  • Experience working with or teaching virtualization and cloud concepts (e.g., basic deployment, configuration, or service models such as IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
  • Competency in Windows and Linux administration, including deployment, user management, and network services configuration.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and best practices applied to network hardening, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Practical experience with automation or scripting tools (e.g., Python, PowerShell, or Bash) for network management or systems integration preferred.
  • Experience in instructional design or technical training delivery considered an asset.
  • Experience developing and maintaining content within a Learning Management System (D2L Brightspace preferred).
  • Demonstrated success in teaching, mentoring, or delivering technical training to adult learners — supported by student feedback, evaluations, or peer review.

Employment requirements

  • As a condition of employment, Faculty must complete a two-year (part-time) Certificate in Adult Education program. To achieve continuing status; all probationary, full or part-time Faculty must successfully complete the program within their probationary period.
  • Proof of credentials or equivalencies from accredited regional or federal post-secondary institutions and/or their foreign equivalents will be required at the time of job offer.

Salary:

$37.25 to $55.08/hr (35hrs/wk).
