Holland College is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Atlantic Police Academy (APA) team. The Learning Manager will participate in the delivery of Driver Training and Firearms Training. The successful candidate will be responsible to:

• Deliver public safety training to new students, and/or seasoned officers, of all the APA’s programs, as per the approved course training standard (CTS).
• Evaluate and monitor student progress.
• Support student success.
• Ensure a safe and respectful working environment at all times.
• Assist in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of training classes and courses.
• Develop, review and update learning materials, using an online based learning management system (SAM).
• Maintain personal, professional certifications.
• Assist with the delivery of scenario-based training.
• Work flexible hours on occasion, to assist with the delivery of training.
• Other duties as required.

• Graduate of a police academy or public safety training recognized by Federal or Provincial legislation, having served a minimum of 10 years, and having left in good standing. Applicants must have operational experience within the past three years.
• Demonstrated experience with police equipped duty vehicles, breathalyzers, intoxilyzer devices, RADAR/LIDAR, basic accident investigation, survey equipment and computers is required.
• Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor certified (or equivalent).
• Collision reconstruction, breath technician, RADAR/LIDAR, use of force instructor, firearms instructor, carbine instructor, active attacker/active shooter instructor, experience are all assets.
• Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills.
• High degree of proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, comfortable working in a digital environment and commitment to using technology in support of an exceptional student experience.
• Proven ability to build strong internal and external relationships in a team environment is required.
• Prior teaching and supervisory experience will be considered assets.
• Must be willing to travel and work flexible hours as required.

Salary:

$39.23 to $58.01 per hour; 35 hrs/wk
