Welcome!
Congratulations on your acceptance into the Small Business Manager – Distance Learning program. We look forward to assisting with your educational journey.
Below you will find a list of all textbooks required for the program. The list is separated based on requirements for first semester (beginning in September) and second semester (beginning in January). Physical textbooks and e-texts can be purchased from the Summerside Waterfront Campus store.
You can contact Ruth Ann O'Neill by telephone: 902-888-6406 or email: at raoneill@hollandcollege.com to arrange the purchase of the textbooks. Prior to the first day of class, you will be provided with a list of weblinks to purchase e-texts directly online from the campus store website.
Texas Instruments BAII Plus Professional calculator. There is also a smartphone app for this calculator.
*Special Note: Apple computers do not support the SAGE software we use in ACCT-1010 (Computerized Accounting). You will need access to a Windows-based PC for this portion of the program during the second semester.
To test your internet speed, go to https://www.speedtest.net/ and click the “go” button. A test will take place that measures the speed at which you can upload or download data from the internet from your current location. It is normal for the upload speed to be much lower than the download speed. If necessary, consider asking others in your household to limit their use of devices/internet when you are involved in a ‘virtual’ class session.
The router in your house might send out more than one signal. Many routers broadcast a 2.4Ghz and a 5Ghz signal simultaneously. Connecting to the 5Ghz band is best. If you have an ethernet cable and your computer is situated near your router or modem, you might be able to use a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi for the best connectivity.
