Welcome to the Environmental Applied Science Technology (EAST) Program at Holland College. Your acceptance into this program is a significant step towards your future career. We look forward to interacting with you as you begin this journey towards your career goals.
Should you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us. We are happy to provide information on what to expect and how to prepare.
Working Ahead Opportunity: July 2024
One of the required courses (for all Holland College students) is Computer Essentials, which is also part of your first year. You have the option of taking this course during the summer starting in July, reducing your course load for the first term. For more information, contact the admissions office.
Please continue to check for Holland College emails over the summer with more information.
There will be lab and field activities that require special clothing. This includes a lab coat and safety glasses, which will be supplied by the program.
You will also need to purchase suitable gear for the fieldwork, including chest waders and rubber boots. Steel toe boots/shoes are also required. Students should also purchase their own good quality compass. More information on obtaining these items will be sent out. It is suggested that you also own a good rain suit and rubber boots for the course fieldwork, and suitable warm clothing, such as winter jackets, hats and gloves. Details for these items can be discussed when class begins.
TEXTBOOKS
We primarily use Open-Sources Textbooks which results in reduced costs for students. Purchase of field books and other resource materials may be required but this will be discussed in person when class begins. There is no requirement to purchase resources prior to September.
