NOTE: It is imperative to be in attendance on this date. The Semester starts with an accelerated course offering of ARCH-1120 Surveying and Site Planning. This course is only 4 weeks in duration with the Surveying Field Work Module conducted in the first two weeks of the Semester. Late arrivals are not permitted to take this course. This course is only offered once a year.

The Architectural Technology program is an intensive two-year course of study. Mandatory attendance is required for all classes and labs to ensure comprehensive learning and practical experience. Additionally, successful completion of the program demands significant work outside of scheduled class time.

September
Class time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
ARCH-1120 Surveying and Site Planning course is a 4-week accelerated course offered at the beginning of Semester 1. The Surveying Field Work Module consisting of practical hands-on exercises conducted outdoors spans the first two weeks of the Semester. Late arrivals are not permitted to take this course.
October to December
Class time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Each class is 75 minutes long, CAD Lab is three hours long.
Remaining Semester 1 courses are offered on a Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday/Thursday cycle.
There are no scheduled classes on Monday afternoon, Wednesday afternoon, and Friday afternoon. However, with advanced notification construction site visits or guest presentations may be scheduled on Friday afternoon.

Engaging in projects, exercises, and assignments that involve CAD software necessitates dedicating extra hours beyond the scheduled lab time. Balancing these commitments with employment can be a challenging task.

In order to participate in tours of construction sites, all students are required to wear CSA Approved 8” protective safety boots. Protective safety boots are not required until later in the term, so we highly recommend that you wait and purchase these boots when they are on sale.
The protective safety boots must have the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) logo.

The Architectural Technology Program has a state-of-the-art CAD lab. In addition to scheduled classes during the day, the CAD lab is open during the evenings and on weekends. In addition to the CAD courses, a number of other courses in the Architectural Technology program have a significant lab component.
In Semester 2, 3 and 4, half of your day (3 hours) is spent in the CAD lab. The CAD lab is a shared space, so we recommend that you have a laptop or a computer capable of operating Autodesk Revit software.
Autodesk Revit Software, Architectural CAD and AutoCAD are available FREE OF CHARGE TO STUDENTS with a valid Student Identification from AutoDesk.
