All financial costs associated with Clinical and Practicum are in addition to school fees and entirely at the student’s expense, including travel costs, rental costs, lease breaks, uniform costs, etc. Student placements in specific locations cannot be guaranteed. Clinical and Practicum sites still require at least two COVID-19 Immunizations. Proof is to be submitted to the Clinical and Practicum Coordinator.
Criminal Record Check
You will need a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector completed prior to program admission and at several points throughout the school year for Clinical and Practicum placements. Any student with violations on their criminal record check or who is convicted during the academic year will not be allowed to partake in Clinical or Practicum placement. Students will be responsible for all Criminal Record Check costs.
Travel Expenses
You may be required to go out of the provinces for both your Clinical and Practicum placements, depending on availability. You may be required to complete Clinical and Practicum in separate provinces. You may be required to travel within provinces to several sites for your Clinical and Practicum.
Selected Practicum sites may have additional fees related to preceptor hours, which are the student's responsibility.
You will need internet and computer access during Clinical and Practicum rotations to allow daily iPad synchronizing for the college’s auditing purpose.
You will be required to have a safety kit purchased and a verification of contents form sent to the Clinical and Practicum Coordinator. The Clinical and Practicum Coordinator will email you the required form.
You will be required to complete a PPAT (Paramedic Physical Abilities Test) before Clinical and Practicum placement.
Immunizations
You must have up-to-date immunizations and TB testing to be permitted to participate in Clinical/Practicum placements. Students accepted will not be allowed into Clinical/Practicum settings without the required immunizations and cannot complete the program. Please ensure you have completed and sent the Immunization Verification Form for Holland College Healthcare Programs to the Admissions Office. This form is an Admission requirement. To ensure that you will meet all the requirements for admission before your program start date, it is recommended that you begin the process as soon as possible. Download the form here.
In addition to Holland College’s Immunization Requirements detailed above, you may still be required to meet specific Clinical and Practicum site health record/immunization requirements. Also, provinces may require an Oath to be witnessed by a Notary. All associated costs are at your expense.
Having met the generic Holland College’s Immunization Requirements detailed above, you will still be required to meet Clinical Sites Requirements to access clinical. This will also require a TB test completed again while on campus, which may be completed with Holland Colleges Nurse Practitioner. Deadlines for immunization and TB testing will be communicated by college staff.
