Holland College students graduate in four ceremonies


Almost 700 students graduated in four ceremonies across the Island this month.

The graduation took place at the Harbourfront Theatre in Summerside for students in Automotive Technology, Electrical Construction, Carpentry, Electromechanical, HVAC, Industrial Electrical, Power Engineering, Precision Machinist, Cabinetmaking / Wood Manufacturing, Computer Information Systems (WCAM and Distance), and Wind Turbine Technology programs, all located on the Summerside Waterfront Campus.

Holland College president Dr. Sandy MacDonald; Megan Proctor, student speaker, graduating student in the Carpentry program; Logan Maddix, graduating student in the Electrical Construction Technology program; Emily VanToever, guest speaker, Red Seal Construction Electrician; and Kevin Whitrow, member of the Holland College board of governors at the recent Summerside Waterfront Campus graduation.


The next group of students to graduate were enrolled in programs on the West Prince Campus. The ceremony took place at Westisle Composite High School, and included students from the Administrative Assistant, Welding Fabrication Year 1, and Small Business Manager programs.

Stewart & Sons and Owner/Operator, Integral Hockey PEI; and Kevin Whitrow, member of the Holland College board of governors at the recent West Prince Campus graduation.


Morning and afternoon graduations at the Delta Hotels Prince Edward rounded off the May graduations. The morning graduation included students from the Tourism and Culinary Centre and the Prince of Wales Campus. Students from Culinary Arts, International Hospitality Management, Pastry Arts, Tourism and Travel Management, Golf Club Management, Marketing and Advertising Management, Dance Performance, Music Performance, Theatre Performance, Performing Arts, Energy Systems Engineering Technology, Heritage Retrofit Carpentry, Computer Information Systems (PWC), Child and Youth Care Worker, Primary Care Paramedicine graduated.

Holland College president Dr. Sandy MacDonald; Thomas Hatfield, graduating student in the Primary Care Paramedicine program; Samantha (Sam) Gallant, student speaker, and graduating student in the Heritage Retrofit Carpentry program; and Chef Irwin MacKinnon, president of the PEI Chef’s Association at the recent morning graduation for programs on the Prince of Wales Campus and in the Tourism and Culinary Centre.


The fourth graduation was for students in the Accounting Technology, Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Sport and Leisure Management, Medical Support Services, Plumbing/Pipefitting, Welding Fabrication, Architectural Technology, Construction Technology and Management, Wildlife Conservation Technology, Fundamental Arts, Graphic Design, Journalism, Photography and Digital Imaging, Video Game Art and Animation programs.

Holland College president Dr. Sandy MacDonald; Tony Davis, student speaker graduating student from the Journalism program; The Honourable Antoinette Perry, Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island; Andrew Richards, graduating student in the Sport and Leisure Management program and recipient of The Governor General’s Collegiate Bronze Medal; and Steve Collette, guest speaker, co-founder and co-owner of 3rd Degree Training at the recent afternoon graduation for programs on the Prince of Wales Campus and the Georgetown Centre.


The final graduation of the spring takes place June 21 at the Delta Hotels Prince Edward at 1 p.m. for students in the Early Childhood Care and Education, Human Services, Practical Nursing, Resident Care Worker, Computer Networking Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, BioScience Technology, Environmental Applied Science Technology, Aircraft Turbine Technician, and Commercial Diving programs.
