Holland College is providing a leadership training program for not-for-profit organizations. The first offering will start with in-class sessions on February 22 and 23 at the Bedeque Rural Action Centre. Dates and locations of future offerings will be announced soon.
The Leadership Engagement Training Program is designed to provide information about many different aspects of being a board member. The program’s goal is to help current or future board members gain the knowledge they need in order to be successful, not only as individual board members, but as an entire board. Topics include board composition, leadership fundamentals, fiduciary responsibility, financial literacy, community engagement, human resources fundamentals, communications, conflict resolution and succession planning.
The program, which is funded by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and the provincial Department of Rural and Regional Development, runs over three months. The program starts with a two-day workshop where participants discuss various board topics and interact with expert guest speakers. Each participant then receives login credentials for Holland College's learning management system, SAM, where they can study and explore program content on their own time. Participants meet for a second session to finish the program.
Registration is $100 +HST, and seating is limited. To register for the February offering, to express interest in attending the program in the future, or for more information about the program, contact Adam Smith by email at atsmith@hollandcollege.com or call 902-566-9653.
