Journalism graduate wins regional award


Holland College Journalism student Tony Davis, right, accepts an Atlantic Journalism Award from Bill Skerrett, executive director of the awards program in Charlottetown May 31. The award, which comes with a $500 cash prize, is presented annually to a student in the program who shows initiative, maturity, creativity and professionalism in their writing and reporting. In his first year, Davis completed a successful four-week practicum at The Metro, a daily newspaper in Halifax. He worked last summer as an intern at The Guardian newspaper in Charlottetown and is now employed with CBC in Charlottetown. Tony graduated with 16 classmates May 17 and was student speaker for the afternoon ceremony.
