Green Machine presents first sustainability award

Holland College’s Green Machine presented its first ever sustainability award during its Earth Day Community Barbecue recently.

The award recognizes businesses that adhere to sustainable practices. This year’s recipient is Chartwells at the Credit Union Café on the Prince of Wales Campus.

Joan Diamond, spokesperson for the Green Machine, said Chartwells serves as an exemplary model of environmental responsibility in the food and beverage industry, as well as for students and staff.

“Chartwells is a leader in sustainability here at the Charlottetown campus. We applaud Ashley Cudmore and her team for all their sustainable practices including discounts when customers use refillable coffee mugs, napkins made from recycled materials, and the use of compostable and recyclable containers,” she said.

The Green Machine intends to present the award in recognition of the efforts of individuals and groups both within and outside of the college.
