With a 17-year history of providing bursaries for Holland College students, the Cooke Insurance Group recently confirmed a gift of $115,000 to the college's Learning. For Life. capital campaign.
"We are so pleased to make this investment in Holland College," said Jeff Cooke, president of the Cooke Insurance Group of Companies. "We believe quality counts, integrity lasts and treating people with respect makes great things happen. Investing in the future of our Island through student aid and by helping to maintain and upgrade facilities and technology goes hand in hand with our company philosophy."
Cooke Insurance and The Insurance Company of Prince Edward Island currently provide 13 annual bursaries for deserving Holland College students. A portion of the company's most recent gift will secure these bursaries for the next 10 years, and the balance will be directed to the area of greatest need as determined by the college.
"We are extremely pleased to have the philanthropic support of the Cooke Insurance Group," said Dr. Brian McMillan, president of Holland College. "This generous gift shows great leadership and will have significant benefit for our current and future learners."
The Holland College Learning. For Life. capital campaign is an investment in increasing opportunities, enhancing learning environments and continuing to build upon partnerships with industry. The campaign has a priority focus in four critical areas: Students, through the addition of new student awards, increased accessibility to student support services and enhanced extracurricular activities; facilities, with the renewal and greening of existing spaces, and expansion to accommodate growth; programs, through enhancements to classrooms and labs, adding specialized equipment and incorporating new instructional technologies; and innovation, to help the college's people - students, staff and faculty - transform ideas into reality.
