Holland College is hosting Help Haiti, a dinner and silent auction to raise funds to help earthquake victims in Haiti on Friday, February 5th at the Tourism and Culinary Centre located at 4 Sydney Street in Charlottetown.
Holland College staff have donated their time and talents to ensure that the evening will be a success. Items for the silent auction include a Culinary Boot Camp for two, snow removal services, two hand-woven lap throws, jewellery, and a $300 gift certificate for travel, with more items coming in daily.
"The organizing committee of Help Haiti wanted those at the fundraising dinner to be in solidarity with the Haitian people," noted Chef Austin Clement, Program Manager for Culinary programs at Holland College's Culinary Institute of Canada. "Therefore, we will honour them by serving a four- course Haitian meal. The students and staff of Holland College have been outstanding in their support of this project, so the evening is shaping up to be a wonderful celebration of the beautiful and courageous spirit of the Haitian people."
"Holland College staff have long been noted for their kindness and compassion," Holland College President Dr. Brian McMillan said. "The Help Haiti evening promises to be an extraordinary event, where people will be able to contribute to such a worthy cause, enjoy the talents of our chefs, and bid on some interesting items in the silent auction."
