Adult education instructors and students in Montague will host an open house February 10th in their new location at the Down East Mall, 500 Main Street in Montague.
The new centre includes spacious classrooms, a fully equipped computer lab, an office for The Employment Journey, an Island publication that focuses on issues pertaining to career planning and job seeking, and several smaller one-on-one rooms for testing or student/instructor intervention.
Adult education classes have been offered in Montague for years. Currently, there are 50 students attending adult education classes in Montague. Natalie Worthen, Program Manager of Adult Education, said the staff hopes that the new facility will encourage more people in Montague and the surrounding area to enrol in classes to earn their GED or upgrade their high school credits.
“For people thinking of going to college or university, or even if they just want to do for their own satisfaction, upgrading and GED classes are available year round for little or no cost,” she said.
The open house will run from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., and instructors will be on hand to answer questions about the programs offered at the Montague Centre.
