College Golf alumnus wins prestigious PGA award

Dallas Desjardins, a graduate of Holland College's Golf Club Management and Professional Golf Management programs has been named a 2008 Tex Noble Award winner, the Canadian Professional Golfers' Association announced recently.

The Tex Noble Award is presented to Canadian PGA apprentice professionals who earn the highest marks on the Canadian PGA Class A accreditation exam. Desjardins, who is head professional at the Summerside Golf and Country Club, and Peter Stewart, associate professional at The Country Club in Woodbridge, Ontario tied for the award with impressive test scores of 94 per cent.

Desjardins, who is now the General Manager of Summerside Golf and Country Club, attributes his training at Holland College as one of the keys to his success.

"The Holland College Golf programs provided me with the knowledge and skills necessary for all business dealings in my current role as general manager of a golf club. The comprehensive coverage of all facets of the golf industry enabled me to achieve my goals early on in life," he explained.

Desjardins and Stewart will receive personalized plaques and $500 bonuses from Simmlands Insurance Brokers Limited, long time supporters of the award. Desjardins will receive his award at a presentation ceremony held in conjunction with the Canadian PGA’s Atlantic Zone Spring Meeting on March 26th in Charlottetown.
