Borden Boyles, Chairperson of the Holland College Board of Governors today announced the membership of the Holland College Presidential Search Committee. The Committee was established following Alex MacAulay?s announcement that he would be stepping down as College President within the next year.
?The mandate for this Committee is to search, recruit and evaluate candidates for President of Holland College and to present recommendations to the Board for their approval,? stated Mr. Boyles. ?The Board is responsible for making the final selection and appointment of the President.?
Membership of the Search Committee was to include the Chair of the Board of Governors, a former Board Chairperson, an external representative from the educational community, a College employee below the Senior Management level and a representative from the Island?s business community.
Former Board Chairperson is Mr. Edward Lawlor who served on the College?s Board of Governors from 1995 - 2002. During that time he was Chair of the Board for two years, Chair of the Finance Committee and a member of the Program Committee. Currently President and founder of Delta Ware systems Inc., Mr. Lawlor has had a varied career which includes working in government as well as university teaching.
Representing the educational community is Dr. Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald, Superintendent for the Eastern School Board. Dr. MacDonald has served in numerous roles throughout his career including those of teacher, guidance counsellor, psychologist, and vocational and educational consultant. As the former Director of Programs and Educational Services at Holland College, he played a leadership role in curriculum development initiatives, applied research and program development.
Bringing to the Committee an extensive background in business is Edouard Babineau. Mr. Babineau is owner, President and CEO of Babineau Holdings Ltd. and President and CEO of PEI Capital Inc., the only venture capital company on PEI. He has been involved in a number of community and national organizations including Junior Achievement, the National ANGEL Organization in Toronto which researches potential investments in Canada, Trout River Industries and he is a former member of the Holland College Board of Governors.
Representing the staff of Holland College is Instructor Mary Beth MacMillan who has been with Holland College since 1986. She developed the Youth Worker program, served as Program Unit Coordinator for the Health and Community Services Unit and has served on a number of committees within the College. In addition, she is a private practitioner and has her own counselling practice.
Presidential Search Committee Chair Borden Boyles says that the Committee expects to begin nationally advertising for the position within the next two weeks.
