Job Description

The City of Summerside is accepting applications for experienced Police Constables. Aside from living and working in beautiful PEI, we offer competitive wages and compensation packages along with the opportunity for movement to various sections including general patrol, traffic enforcement, forensic identification, drug investigations, major crimes and more. Duties will include:

• To assist in the operational activities of the department and take direction from all senior officers of the Police Services.
• To investigate any offences and to enforce the Municipal, Provincial and Federal Statutes.
• To prepare documentation for court purposes and to respond to calls for assistance and service to the public along with the discharge of other duties that may be assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

• Must be a graduate of the Atlantic Police Academy, or equivalent and have a valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of police duties.
• Knowledge of an operational Police Command Centre, general office procedures including record keeping.
• Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Must be able to maintain professional work relationships with other members of the force and the public.
• Must be able to take orders and be physically fit.
• Definite assets include a university degree, PROS training, and being bilingual.
