Job Description

The Maintenance Technician (Plumbing) is responsible for the safe execution of a wide variety of maintenance tasks and will take ownership of specific systems or equipment with a focus on plumbing and piping systems. The Maintenance Technician is a thorough professional who advocates for safety and quality, with a practical mind and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to work autonomously and responsibly by observing all health and safety guidelines. This is a hardworking, hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves environment emphasizing a team-oriented and collaborative style. It will be key for the candidate to embrace change and see past obstacles with a focus on solutions in the context of a company undergoing rapid growth and ongoing functional integration. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring plant systems and equipment operate in a safe and efficient manner
  • Help develop and improve standard operating practices and effective preventative maintenance plans for equipment and processes to ensure continued safe operation with reduced unplanned downtime
  • Be the site SME for piping and plumbing systems with the ability to troubleshoot and repair those systems
  • Must be able to flexible in any maintenance task in the facility and cross train with others in the team
  • Execute assigned Work Orders within a CMMS system in a timely manner and complete all relevant documentation to close orders
  • Coordinate work with external contractors and ensure work is completed effectively
  • Monitor and troubleshoot operating equipment
  • Develop innovative solutions to overcome problems or improve systems
  • Ensure facility adheres to safety and environmental rules
  • Implement facility improvement projects for more efficient energy demand
  • Conduct area inspections and audits
  • Work well in a team atmosphere to support the manufacturing site as a whole to achieve its goals
  • Support all areas of maintenance throughout the facility including Preventative, corrective, and reliability approach
  • Ensure safe work conditions and practices as outlined in the company Safety, Health & Environment policies
  • Keep tools and equipment in good working order while maintaining a clean and safe work area

Qualifications

The Ideal Candidate has:

  • Certificate in pipefitting, plumbing or relevant field preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in a food or pharmaceutical environment is considered a strong asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently and safely
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are needed to work effectively with all levels of employees and management
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, great attention to detail, and strong record-keeping skills
  • WHMIS certification is considered an asset
  • Must have access to reliable transportation to work full-time hours as scheduled (40 hours per week)
  • Must have the ability to provide a criminal record check that is clear of any charges that could be related or have a direct correlation to the position or company
  • All employees must be 19+

  • Schedule: regularly 7:00am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, subject to change as per operational requirements
