Job Description

The JourneyPerson Drywaller. Framer. or Crackfiller/SeamFiller will be able to independently and safely carry out all the duties in a four (4) of the six (6) Core Responsibility Areas (Steel Stud Framing, Drywall Installation, Suspended Acoustic Ceiling Installation, Crack filling, Thin Coat Plasterer and EIFS/Stucco).

Core Responsibility Areas:

Steel Stud Framing duties
  • Erect metal stud framework, and install door and window frames
  • Install interior/exterior heavy and light gauge framing for all applications, using hand and power tools
  • Attach metal lath and beads
  • Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools
  • Attach metal or gypsum lath to studs or furring using nails, screws, clips or wire ties

Drywall Installation duties

  • Measure, cut and fit drywall sheets for installation on walls and ceilings
  • Position and secure sheets to steel or wood framing
  • Cut and install metal trim
  • Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts and electrical outlets Suspended Acoustic

Ceiling Installation duties

  • Install acoustic suspended ceilings
  • Install interior/exterior heavy and light gauge framing for all applications, using hand and power tools
  • Attach metal lath and beads
  • Measure, cut and fit drywall sheets for installation on ceilings
  • Position and secure sheets to steel or wood framing
  • Cut and install metal trim
  • Install metal stud framing and furring for interior ceilings, using hand and power tools
  • Install acoustic tile, hangers for suspended ceilings and metal studs for composition wallboard or lath.
  • Install suspended ceilings (drywall, acoustic, specialty ceilings)
  • Perform thermal/acoustic installations

Crack Filling duties

  • Clean and prepare surfaces
  • Finish corners and angles and create decorative designs in finish coat, if required
  • Mould and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices and trim
  • Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners
  • Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound using trowel and broad knife
  • Tape over joints using taping machine and embed tape in compound
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry
  • Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints


Qualifications

  • 3+ Drywall Installation, Framing or Taping. (if applying for base level positions, if not 2 to 3 years of experience would be preferred)
  • High degree of respect, professionalism, safety consciousness, and integrity.
  • Strong attention to quality and detail skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop.
