About Us:Flowers River Outfitters is a renowned fishing lodge located in the remote wilderness of Labrador, offering world-class Atlantic Salmon Fly Fishing experiences. We are seeking a talented and dedicated 1st Cook to join our team for the seasonal operations. Job Overview:As a 1st Cook at Flowers River Outfitters, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional culinary experiences to our fishing guests. The lodge operates from July through September, offering a unique opportunity to work in a pristine natural environment. Selected candidate would start late June. Travel costs to get to the Lodge will be covered. Duties: Food Ordering/Inventory Management Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner - focusing on healthy and balanced meals (avoiding excessive deep frying/fast food concepts). Baking - prepare bread, buns, rolls, muffins, and cookies. Follow proper food handling, storing, and thawing procedures. Maintain kitchen and prep area cleanliness, with shared duties with kitchen helper.Track and report food inventory, collaborating with management for menu planning and supply ordering. Pack for guests' outpost trips. Clean pots, pans, and dishes, sharing duties with staff cook/housekeeper when they are available. Other duties as required. Requirements: Ability to work well in a remote and isolated area.Strong interpersonal skills, functioning well within a small workforce.Adaptability to an ever-changing schedule and duties list.Good time management skills.Clean and organized work habits.Self-directed and demonstrates leadership qualities.Works well with others.Reliable, prompt, and neat in appearance.Enjoys the outdoors. Staff work 7 days a week for the entirety of the season. Skills: Creative meal planning on a budget. Resourceful with ingredients while minimizing waste. Proficient in scratch soups, bread, desserts, etc.Environment:Kitchen equipped with a commercial gas range, bbq, microwaves, toaster, fridges, and freezers. Early morning starts, afternoon breaks, and some evenings. Must adapt to last-minute changes, such as guests not showing or supply/guest planes being delayed.
