Dawson City has been a gold rush town since 1897 and used to be called the Paris of the North. Today, when you walk on the wooden boardwalks or drive on the unpaved roads looking at the patrimonial buildings all around, it feels like going back in time. There are 2300 inhabitants but over the summer, around 200 000 tourists are visiting. To live six hours North of Whitehorse, the capital of the Yukon, it requires to embrace the wild nature; as much the midnight sun as the cold and dark winters. Dawsonites live on the magnificent territory of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in. The Red Mammoth Bistro has a great location on Second avenue with a large sunny deck. The kitchen is pretty small so we have to collaborate as a team and be creative to produce a huge daily amount of deli, baked goods, soups, smoothies and espresso. In order to fully operate, Paul does most of the food production, Lilly is in charge of customer service and we are looking for a barista, a kitchen helper as well as a trained cook or a trained baker. We are interested in meeting reliable, loyal and dynamic people. The rhythm at work is very intense so you need energy, stress management skills and a smile. Either Paul or Lilly are always there to supervise during the summer but we are also hopeful to find that special someone able to manage the business during the winter. Since the housing situation in Dawson City isn't easy, we offer a travel-trailer located behind the Bistro, with electricity, running water and wifi. We would be happy to discuss the remuneration and the length of the contract if you are reliable, seek adventure, have training as a cook and are legally able to work in Canada.
