Job Posting: COMMUNITY OFFICERS, Moncton NB

Commissionaires NBPEI has been protecting people and property throughout New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island for over 75 years. We are currently recruiting for mature and responsible team members to work as Community Officers in Moncton, NB.

Rate of Pay: $27.25 per hour Benefits: Health, Vision, and Dental Benefits, Life Insurance and AD&D plans

Requirements: Bilingual (French/English); Police Foundations Course or equivalent

Hours: Full time; 24/7, 12-hour shifts

The Role: Under direction from the City of Moncton Bylaw Enforcement Department, Community Officers work to enhance community safety by providing a uniformed presence throughout the municipality. In a professional and courteous manner, Community Officers engage in preventative patrols seeking compliance of municipal, parking and animal bylaws.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Vehicle and foot patrols of an assigned route conducting security checks and providing a presence to deter public nuisance and crime.
  • Carry out enforcement of municipal, parking and animal bylaws to increase compliance, issue tickets for violations
  • Respond promptly to diffuse any actual problems of public disorder or safety within the community, calling appropriate assistance when necessary

Qualifications

Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Police foundation training through post-secondary educational institution
  • Sensitivity to the needs of the community and individuals
  • Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively apply conflict resolution strategies and demonstrate sound judgement quickly and appropriately in shifting situations
  • Possess a valid New Brunswick Driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Maintain a valid First Aid Certificate
  • Competent in use of computers and technology Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to:
    • Complete a Physical Ability Requirement Evaluation (PARE) test
    • Walk and stand for extended periods o Work in a variety of weather conditions
