Job Description:

Camp Ouareau is looking for an enthusiastic sous-shef or prep cook to work in our kitchen for the 2023 summer, who has a genuine interest in supporting Ouareau’s food-related needs. As a kitchen staff member, you will work with a team of 3-4 individuals to ensure the wellness and well-being of campers and staff – from the nutritional value required to get you through an active day at camp, to the home-cooked meal that makes you feel at home. Sous-Chef Tasks Include: - Preparation of three meals a day and small snacks for approx. 220 individuals, in collaboration with the Head chef and other sous-chefs. - Assisting in the management of inventory, ingredients, and meal leftovers. - Assisting in the planning and execution of the weekly menu, including preparing meal alternatives for food restrictions, intolerances, and/or allergies. - Maintaining all kitchen equipment. Prep-Cook Tasks Include: - Assisting in the preparation and cooking of three meals a day plus snacks for approx. 220 individuals, in collaboration with sous-chefs and the head chef - Washing, cutting, and plating meat, fruits, and vegetables - Helping set plates and tables - Maintaining a clean work environment and sanitizing kitchen equipment during and after shifts Ouareau is the place for you if: - You love spending your summers outdoors, helping campers disconnect from technology and experience the beautiful Laurentian mountains. - You want to contribute to a team that prioritizes building a positive community of self-growth and self-expression. - You thrive in the energetic and fast-paced environment of a kitchen serving a large group of campers and staff. - You want to gain kitchen and food preparation experience, as well as in teamwork, communication, complex problem-solving, and crisis management. - You are keen to work within our bilingual program, giving both French & English speakers opportunities to improve their second language.

- Previous experience working in a restaurant or cooking-related industry is a requirement for sous-chef, and is an asset for prep-cooks. - Available for staff training and work from June 8th – August 20th 2023 for sous-chefs, and from June 14th-August 20th for prep cooks. - Must be 18 years or older by July 1st, 2023. `
