Job Description

Hiring a full-time Accounting Technician to work in our office in O’Leary, PE. This position requires someone who can work efficiently under deadlines, complete tasks accurately, and communicate effectively with colleagues and clients. The accounting technician position involves bookkeeping and personal tax duties. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Bookkeeping duties The position involves weekly, monthly, and quarterly bookkeeping responsibilities for various clients. Tasks include the following:

  • Sales and receipts
  • Purchases and payments
  • Bank Reconciliation
  • Payroll, payroll remittances, and reports
  • HST Remittances
  • Keeping organized files Personal Tax Duties
  • Basic tax preparation including calculation of medical, charitable donations, and childcare tax credits
  • Preparation of self employment and fishing schedules for sole proprietors
  • Communication with clients to request information or clarify notes
  • Gathering information for clients under review from CRA and submitting it to CRA in a timely manner. Work Conditions

  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals

  • Lifting or moving up to 25lbs may be required (boxes of paper)

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Accounting and bookkeeping professional development courses OR a minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience
  • Knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, tax laws, and reporting requirements
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in Sage 50, QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word
  • Effective written and oral communication skills with clients and colleagues
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
