There’s a total of 11 games scheduled for this weekend for the Hurricanes as we hit the midway portion of our fall-sport regular season. You can catch the cross country running, baseball, soccer, and rugby teams in action at home and on the road over the two days. Here is everything you need to know before another busy weekend of Hurricanes action.
Cross Country Running
It’s a big weekend for the Hurricanes cross country running team as they host their only home meet of the 2023 Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) season. The event will take place on Saturday at the Mark Arendz Nordic Site in Brookvale, PEI.
The women’s race, beginning at 11:30am, will take place on the six-kilometre course, while the men, starting at 12:30pm, will compete on the eight-kilometre course.
The ‘Canes began their 2023 ACAA season last weekend in Moncton, New Brunswick, hosted by the Crandall University Chargers. The Hurricanes will complete three meets in preparation for the 2023 ACAA Championships on October 28th in Truro, Nova Scotia.

Baseball
The 5-3 baseball Hurricanes are set to host the Dalhousie University Tigers on Saturday at the Memorial Field at Victoria Park in Charlottetown. The ‘Canes sit in a tie for second in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball Association (ACBA) standings as they enter the second half of the regular season.
This is the first meeting between the Tigers and Hurricanes this season; Dalhousie enters the weekend at 3-5 and in a tie for fourth in the standings.
The action will continue Sunday when the Hurricanes travel to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia to take on the Saint Mary’s University (SMU) Huskies. The Huskies also sit at 3-5 and are tied for fourth with Dalhousie.
Double headers each day begin at 1pm with game two scheduled for around 3:30pm.
All eyes are on the very-tight standings as teams compete for a top-three finish; the SMU Huskies receive an automatic berth into the ACBA Championship as the hosts.
All games this weekend are highly important in the standings as all teams chase the University of New Brunswick (UNB) Reds who sit in first at 6-1.
